Feelings/Emotions and how they relate to my genre

Metalcore/ screamo / heavy metal; any genre that is considered 'dark' or 'alternative' usually has a stereotype of one of two eccentrics, a cold hearted person with no emotion at all or the complete opposite, someone with too much emotion.
However this is not the case with most bands, usually the songs and lyrics have a theme and a meaning behind them, usually the band songwriters own experience. For example Austin Carlile from Of Mice&Men writes about his mother who passed away in  2007, Oli Sykes (lead singer of BMTH) writes about his recent recovery of a ketamine addiction, Kellin Quinn from Sleeping With Sirens writes about his broken family and childhood and how he's building a better one for his own daughter.
Basically what I'm trying to say is that all of these men seem scary and terrifying so someone from outside the genre fanbase, yet in reality they are only using the art they know to express themselves. We ourselves (myself and Becky) have tried to accomplish a similar sort of thing yet through the visuals of our music video to match that of the lyrics from BMTH. The 'powder-paint scene' was intended and (from audience feedback) succeeded in showing is the variety of emotions (through the different colours) and all the difficulties being faced by one individual, not only does the colours represent this yet my facial expression and grabbing of my own head and yelling shows the physical pain and distress being experienced in the lyrics projected via my character within the narrative.
