Due to difficulties with our actor and timings and schedules and the manic busy lives that we all leave, we've had to change things up a bit. HOWEVER this is not necessarily a bad thing as it's given myself and Becky a chance to sit down together and really ensure that the work is evenly spread and works and will ensure the best possible end result.
This mix up and refresh of our project has resulted in actors and narrative changing about which can and sometimes subvert the genre. We have decided to change the narrative to a female dealing with issues of substance abuse and the females boyfriend bring the one to try to aid her. To give you some sort of idea as to how we will integrate the idea of a female lead in the narrative here are some examples (to the left) of female lead singers in bands who as act as the female lead in the narrative (with a few exceptions yet are still relevant).

The changing of actor to actress was a slight stab in the dark however with the research we have managed to do gives us clear evidence and examples of this working and being a successful change and can also be considered as a convention of the genre that adheres to its forms. As a team Becky and I decided to use myself as the actress to perform the part as no only do I have experience of performing through AS Theatre Studies but also a local acting group. Another reason for using myself is that my personal look can be described as 'dark' or 'alternative' which is a large convention of the style and costume use of the heavy rock genre. Lastly but not least I am also in a relationship with a male (Joe) who also has a love of heavy music but also dresses the part. Being able to use someone with whom I am already close to enables the intimate scenes and emotion to already be there and does not seem fake between us. This ease in working together has enabled the shots to clearly show the emotion we wish to portray within the music video which is an improvement to when we were using Sam as our main actor and Becky as the girl as they are good friends yet the emotion was not present.
The photos within this post are not only an example of female musicians but also a collage of make up and styles that we wish to include within our music video and how I also dress myself normally. As a team Becky and I have decided that I should be dressed in all black, to have dark eye make up along with black lipstick and painted nails and accessories. This not only clearly shows the dark emotions that I am going through but during some scenes quite literally shows a contrast (or binary opposition if you will) between black and white and how some things are clear cut emotions, either at an extreme high or extreme low. This last image of the Coven from American Horror Story not only shows you what I am wearing as I write this post yet it also relates to one of the scenes from the show that inspired us for one of our scenes in our music video.
Blow are some music videos to show you how females are portrayed within this genre music videos, and this shows my main influence for dressing myself as I did and why I dressed the male lead as I did to not only show that we are together but to also express the feelings and emotions that we both experience through my music video.
