A very speedy setting up all the kit

Basically us setting up the kit to shoot the band scene. Here as you can see we've moved the sofa and coffee table out of one half of the room to make an ideal space to set the band scene in a fairly dingy house (no offence to Elijah or Reece as it is their house) which fits with the emotion of the song. Here you can see me setting up the two light stands with metal cones to evenly spread the light and the ensure that it is all directed towards the area in which we are to film so none of the bulb light is lost behind the stand (hence the use of the cone to reflect it all forward). We've used a drum kit, electric guitar, amplifier and microphone within this set up. I had this small digital camera set up to film the set-up process to show the technical side of setting up and filming (the bit which i love best); and my Samsung tablet set up to film the sort of behind the scenes and evidence of us working together as a pair and that it is actually us creating this music video. As you can see we managed to fit all this kit, myself and Becky into my tiny little car which was admittedly the biggest difficulty and trying to get some of our closest friends to do things which could be laughable but as we were taking it seriously it was slightly annoying when they became self conscious.

P.S if you didn't believe us that we could fit it all in the car, heres a photo taken from leaning in from the back passengers door.

One busy busy weekend!

Due to the change of actors and slight change of the story board, we've had to change our filming schedule and risk assessment, you can see previously the original filming schedule and risk assessment in a post dated _______.

We had planned to do the filming on sunday the 8th as it was a time where not only both producers were free but our main actor was free too. Here is the amended risk assessment:

Location shots and camera angles

Here are all the location shots that were taken by my partner during the narrative filming, these locations may strike you as a slightly odd place to set such a genre video yet that is what enables it to stand out. Yes there is an element that as we live in the countryside it is more difficult to find something substantial enough tto adhere to the genre conventions, yet using this fact and turning it around to subvert and amplify the stark contrast of this genre in comparisons to others has really worked. Using such a soft and calming environment like the garden sequence and the barns enabled the raw emotion and feelings and unrest of this narrative to be shown. Not only does it work as a storyline yet it works with the lyrics of the song itself, 'can you feel my heart...i'm scared to get close but I hate being alone' - these lyrics are amplified by the mise en scene of the outside shots, as 'feeling my heart' doesn't have to be taken seriously, to understand what truly is in someones heart can be a long and revealing journey, to show a male in such a soft and 'feminine' environment such as the garden and the bedroom and be an idea as to what is truly in his heart as the lyrics ask.

The choice of location for the band scenes can be seen in the video I made and found in the post titled 'A very speedy setting up the kit' - this location for the band scenes is actually the house of the guitarist (Elijah) and Drummer (Reece), the original idea for the band was to use a studio set up, however not only due to technical difficulties yet time constraints of the actors other obligations, we decided to change venue. I had remembered when helping to move the 'band members' into their house that they had a large living room, I discussed this with my partner and we agreed that a simplistic mise en scene for the band shots would work well in conjunction with the narrative locations. We researched similar techniques used in music videos of the same genre and found that not only the band whose' song we're using (BMTH) have used this contrast before but others like Sleeping with Sirens and Of Mice&Men too and all of which have proved very successful and gave us confidence that it would work in our music video too.

Me myself and I

This is a follow up post to the one I just published, I have posted this separately as the first post was rather long and I doubted anyone would wish to read a post that was even longer.

Here are two images of me to show you what I mean by 'dark' and 'alternative'. You can clearly see from the second picture my black hair and clothes along with dark make up and accessories, which enables my role in the music video very easy as I already have the tools required.

Here are some images to show me and Joe as couple over the past year, these images also show how I dyed my hair to fit the genre
