Spoiler alerts

Here is a screen shot of the Bring Me The Horizon Shadow Moses single from the same album (Sempiternal) as Can You Feel My Heart, within the music videos for the songs on this album there is a reoccurring theme of cold and isolated places to contrast with bright flares and dark clothing, I wish to keep part of this theme within my own video as it will clearly show the audience that it is the same band and of the same genre as within alternative/scremo /rock there are usually many bluntly obvious contrasts (or clear binary opposition) either through colours, emotions, genders or anything that can either contradict or contrast itself.

Clearly this music video is not of the same genre, however I really like the idea of the contrast of the colours of the paint against plain coloured clothes, as an idea to incorporate into my own music video to fit with the contrasting theme of colours and isolation within Bring Me The Horizons music videos I wish to include a scene where my main actor (Sam) is showered in colourful paint to show the mixture of emotions he would be feeling throughout the music video and to make it more poignant and to make it follow the codes and conventions of alternative/scremo /rock I would have Sam wearing dark clothes so that the paint showed up and also represented the sadness and darkness that he feels he is surrounded with.

Editing to fit with the music and editing the music to fit with the moving images FINISH

Here you can see how I have edited the film to ensure that it is within time of the song I am using and that I can change the colour scheme of the shot from the original to a black and white colour pallet. The only thing that is not clear within this video is me myself editing the music, as at the end I wish to extend the synths at the end of the track to cover the credits. However the use of markers along the track in this editing session is clear.

Getting bored of my song

I found to keep my interest and love of this song strong throughout the making process, I found different remix'. I feel listening to all these different remixes allows for other people to show and express their interpretation of the song and how they feel it should be shown to others as.
Listening to these different remixes allows me to see how other people interpret the song and with each version different parts of the song are emphasised with different emotions, this has helped me to focus on different emotions through out the film I am creating.

Other peoples work and inspirations

This is someone's version of Bring Me The Horizon's Can You Feel My Heart, there are some elements which I really like in this video.
Throughout the entire video all the visuals link directly to the song lyrics, I feel this does a very good job of amplifying the meaning of the song lyrics and the emotions of the song. An example of this is from 0.46-0.51 you are shown someone's hands to be squeezing and twisting with what appears to be a heart to correlate to the lyrics 'can you feel my hear-hear-heart', I really like this visual interpretation of the lyrics and have decided to use a similar sort of visual to show the direct connection between the narrative of my music video and the lyrics of my chosen song.

After showing this to some of my audience they recognised that it was very similar to another artists music videos: Die Antwood, here are the examples:

How my project is going so far

Here are two screen shots of my initial film in the editing process. In the first screen shot it shows a shot from the first set of filming I did, from personal preference and audience feedback it has been decided that this shot will not be used in the finished product (thankfully it is just my initial filming and not the final shot). The reason for the audience and myself for not liking this shot is because in the lower half of the shot it shows the unfinished side of the bath along with the wall and bath products in the background. My original ideas of the shot were to be just a single focused shot of the hand coming up and out of the bath and curling around the rim on the bath.

The second screen shot is of another piece of initial filming which has been put into premier pro. I do like this piece of film as it has been edited so the colour scheme is now black and white, this use of filter increases the contrast of the black t-shirt against the white bath, from audience feedback it was said from a 17 year old female "I like the black and white contrast as it shows how depressed the lead actor is and allows the audience to be emphasise with his emotions and feelings". So from this feedback I think it makes the black and white filter a contender for my actual filming for the finished product. HOWEVER I do not like (and neither do my audience) the fact that the shower curtain is in the shot and looks really messy.

Inspiration and showing ideas through images

If you look at 3.29-3.38 you can see the slow motion of a plate smashing from two different angles. I would like to incorporate this sort of slow motion in to my own music video as it allows for extra drama and emotions to be expressed and captured for longer. I feel this emphasis on emotion and allowing the slowed scenes to make a bigger impact on the audience will work as it will paly with their minds more and will make them try to figure out if the entire video was just that, or a trip or even just a dream?

This video is of water droplets colliding at 200 times slower than the actual speed. Using this slowed down version allows for more definition for each water droplet than that might be missed if not watched at 5000 frames per second.
